We are in a standoff.
It is nap time. Sesame Street is over. She has a full tummy. Dry diaper. Plugger and blankey.
Yet, when I lay her down she screams bloody murder.
So...here we sit in the quiet living room. It's 11am and we're both still in our jams, and we both need a nap.
I WILL win this one.
p.s. Am I wrong, or is she smirking at me here?

I don't see smirking, but I do see some willful awakeness! It is 1:15 now, who won?
Maybe she wants to go back to VBS?
Putting oneself to sleep is a skill. Shirley Jean will learn it right, Momma?
I see bright unsleepy eyes in that photo...it's almost 5pm-did you get your nap in?
The most constant thing about motherhood is that things change. Shirley didn't stay that little tiny bundle of joy you brought home from the hospital, and her schedules and routines won't stay static. Get used to it. If my memory serves me correctly, you can expect her need for sleep to become less as she gets older, and according to Murphy's law, when she is sleepy, you won't want her to be, and when you need her to sleep, she won't feel like it. Ahhh, motherhood. And, oh yeah, when she is about twelve or thirteen, she will want to stay up really, really late and you will not be able to understand it. You and Richard will go to bed much, much earlier, and you will hope she remembers to turn out the lights and lock the doors.
PS. Don't expect much sympathy from her dad. He's not getting to nap during the day either.
Enjoying your happy family and their exploits,
Carole Weitner
She's smirking. LOL
Sheesh Lady.
I think Shirley is still that cute little bundle of joy Erin brought home from the hospital, she is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen!
Erin, She probably got used to being held for her morning nap- that's what happened at VBS:)Time to start rocking........Lay her down when she is asleep:)
