Bear Trap Phenomenon

I once had someone describe breastfeeding to me as, "It's like putting your breast in a bear trap for an hour, then getting an hour break, knowing all the while that in an hour, you have to put your breast back in a bear trap for an hour."
It's not quite that bad, but...still. And it IS getting better.
You know what helps, though?

Did you ever think watching someone sleep would be so utterly fascinating?

Or terrifying.
But in a good way.

Breastfeeding for me was honestly one of the best(breast?)memories I have of the cherubs. Joy. After the bear trap beginning, of course. I love Shirley Jean!

I must agree...my first 3 weeks of breastfeeding Adelle remind me of a bear trap! But then it got better :)

Beautiful pictures!

Erin, You are doing such a great job! I think we are out of the "Bear Trap" first few weeks, and we can't wait until you are out of it too! We can't wait to come see your Shirley Jean again too, and Eva is SO EXCITED to have a little friend! Hang in there!

Yup, the first month of nursing Abby was Bear Trap city. After that I was in love with it. Good job hangin' in there with it, Erin. It's gonna keep getting better. And you're right--when they're adorable, it so helps. The things we mommies go through for our babes!

My favorite breastfeeding anaology: "attach vaccuum hose to breast, set to 'medium pile' and turn on." Of course I wouldn't have told you this BEFORE Shirley was born! Some things are best left unsaid!

In that book I gave you, they call months 2-4 "the reward period" 'cuz that's when it really turns a corner. You're almost half way there!
