Como Zoo

Today was such a beautiful day that I decided to take advantage and go on an adventure to the Como Zoo. What a blast!
"Mom, there are butts in this photo."
I thought these two looked an awful lot like us...
I could not believe the sheer size of this guy.
The poor lions looked so sad.

SJ LOVED the giraffes! She could really see them moving around.

Enraptured by the giraffes.

Two peas. This is the tiger that ate Lauren's hat when we were little.
I'm sure of it.
I think I may have had more fun than SJ, but who cares!

Finished Project

Too big.Too small.
Juuuuuust right!

An Expert

Somebody is quickly becoming a "sitting up" expert.
Here she is sitting up in her first restaurant high chair, out to dinner with "Grandma" Julie and Sasha. You should have seen her sitting up in the shopping cart at Wal-Mart! She really thought she was something else!

Out with the old, in with the new!

Dear Baby Gap,
Thank you for calling your 6-12 month size "newborn" and "infant." It made cleaning out the closet a lot easier on this sentimental mommy to know that somebody else still thinks she's a newborn, too.
Good marketing.
I will remain a loyal customer, despite your ridiculous prices just for those little tags that say "infant."
Sincerely yours,
ShirleysMama

Sitting Baby, Running Bull

I'm not so sure this was a good idea, Mama.

Oh my gosh! I am the only baby EVER to sit up in all of time! Mama, look at MEEEEEEEE!
Oh, this can't be good.

Mama, tell Grandma Brenda that my jams are too big, but SOO pretty with my eyes.

Her first Games

I should have written this post months ago, but I didn't think any of you would believe me.
Soon after SJ started laughing in July, I realized that she was playing a game with me. When we sit down to nurse, she eats her fill, and then "pretends" to latch on, and then lets go and looks at me with a huge grin on her face. Then I say, "OH! You tricked me!" And she laughs and laughs. And she does it over and over until one of us gets bored. It's the sweetest thing. And clever, no? She's seriously been doing this since she was about three months old.
She also made up another game about three weeks ago. She thinks it is so funny when her fingers find their way into OUR mouths. She laughs as I "cookie monster" her fingers, and she pulls them out, and then sneakily reaches back for my mouth.
I love a baby with a sense of humor.
The above photo is from a couple of weeks ago, wearing an outfit that my mom saved from when I was a baby. She looks so pretty in blue!
